Great Reviews

We are thankful to all of you who have given us high ratings and posted great reviews on IMDb. If you have watched the movie but haven't had a chance to post a public review, we'd really appreciate if you could go to IMDb and Amazon (click links) and post your rating and review. It really helps new audience members find the movie and, hopefully, decide to watch it.

Producing a Short Film: Pickled Rabbit /

In January, we wrapped production on a movie called "Pickled Rabbit", a recipient of the Canada Council of the Arts grant. Directed by Julie Zhu and written by Julie Zhu and Joshua Bateman, Pickled Rabbit is a narrative short horror film about the relationship between a Chinese Canadian mother and daughter. We are currently in Post Production, and will be raising some funds to complete post production and get the movie set up for a strong film festival run. If you'd like to be kept in the loop on our progress with this movie, please go to this website.

Festival News /

Two movies we worked on in 2022 are having great festival runs.

If you can travel to San Jose in March, "The Island Between Tides", directed by Austin Andrews and Andy Holmes, is premiering on opening night of the Cinequest 2024 film festival. In "The Island Between Tides", a young woman follows a mysterious melody onto a remote tidal island. When she crosses back over at the next low tide, she emerges into a world where 25 years have passed. Tickets & Event info https://shorturl.at/uKQ89

You can read more about the mythology behind the movie that Alfred Hitchcock tried to make that is based on the story by Peter Pan author J. M. Barrie, here: https://rdvcanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/7-b153bacda73dd76449b4941ad8241bc4/2021/04/IBT_deck_telefilm.pdf

The second movie, "Seagrass", directed by Meredith Hama-Brown, is having its U.S. festival debut in February at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and was recently awarded one of the top 10 Canadian films of 2023.

The story is about a Japanese-Canadian woman, grappling with the recent death of her mother, who brings her family to a self-development retreat, but when her distressed marriage affects their children's emotional security, the family is forever changed.

The Quiet Canadians News /

Our team recently took in some inspiration by attending the "Casino Royale" in concert with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. We are continuing to meet with potential sponsors and investors to support the movie's financing plan, while polishing the screenplay and developing our creative plan, with an eye towards going into production this fall/winer. If you are interested in product or brand integration in the movie, or to be a potential sponsor or investor, please let us know by emailing producers@habethyfilms.com

You can also join our behind-the-scenes newsletter for "The Quiet Canadians" for more regular updates and information.

Xing'er: Origins News /

Our Chinese action drama “Xing'er: Origins”, recently had our stunt breakdown and met with some interested parties who may become partners in the creation of this project. Stay tuned, or sign up for the “Xing'er: Origins” newsletter for more information.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you continue to enjoy the updates on our work and we welcome any feedback, comments or questions.
