Here's to the New Year!

Whether 2023 was a triumph, a challenge, or a bit of both, we hope 2024 is a year of joy and happiness for you.

We want to thank you for all your support this past year as we navigated the release of 13 Miles and began the journey of bringing The Quiet Canadians and Xing'er: Origins to the screen.

Below you'll be able to follow some highlights from the year and things we are looking forward to in 2024. We also have an Audience Survey that we would love for you to complete for us. This will help us as we grow Habethy Films beyond our first feature film.

For us, it's about making movies for audiences, and that's what we hope to bring you in 2024.

13 Miles, our first feature movie, tells the story of two triathletes navigating through love, expectations and training...

Two More Movies Completed

Despite the Writers and Actors strike, we found ourselves busy with other productions throughout the year. Both of us expanded further into the world of Producing. Anthony was Supervising Producer on one of this year's highest rated Christmas Movies, "Bringing Christmas Home", starring Jill Wagner. Helena began Producing a Canada Council Granted short film called "Pickled Rabbit", set to film in January 2025.

We started with a wonderful movie project called "Starwalker", due to be completed and in festivals in 2025. Starwalker is a musical (fun!) about an Indigi-Queer Two-Spirit drag queen who learns the ropes of the Drag community when they're introduced to Drag at the House of Borealis, creating a new persona that blends their grounded cultural spirit with drag performance.

We finished off the year on a move called "Ruthless Bastards", starring Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Parmish Verma (movie and pop star), and Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers). Ruthless Bastards is a movie where two former gangster enforcers, filled with hate for one another, partner to take on one last assignment that could cost their lives.

Behind the Scenes /

For The Quiet Canadians and Xing’er: Origins, we hosted a table read for each of the screenplays. Hearing the script read aloud for the first time made the stories feel much more real, and the feedback from the wonderful cast who played different roles has been helpful in our continued script development.

Upcoming Projects /

In 2025 we will be full steam ahead with two Habethy Originals, The Quiet Canadians and Xing'er: Origins. We expect to go into production on The Quiet Canadians in September or October of this year.

As mentioned before, Helena is Producing "Pickled Rabbit" in January, and Anthony will be the Production Manager on the same short film. We will both re-enter the Assistant Director world in April on a feature movie called "Estrella Al Lado De La Luna" (English - "Star Beside the Moon") written and directed by our friend and colleague Andy Alvarez.
